Designer Spotlight: Katherine Hooker

In today’s’ mass manufactured retail world, the concept of well made, lasting clothing can seem impractical and unattainable to the common consumer (without paying top dollar department store prices!). British designer Katherine Hooker has carved a unique niche in the luxury wear market with her accessible direct to consumer clothing line for women and men. Imagine, you can have the same royal treatment as Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge herself, who has been seen wearing the designer’s pieces on many occasions!

“Our Custom Made service is core to Katherine Hooker. Customers can choose from a range of different fabric swatches of tweeds, silks, linens and cashmere which are carefully sourced each season within the British Isles. Every order is handmade in London, one at a time, according to your combination of fabric and trimmings, assuring you of individuality and quality with every Katherine Hooker piece.”

Katherine Hooker has representatives across the US, who host private events and trunk shows to promote her UK brand, one of which was held at XV Beacon, a boutique hotel in Boston’s historic Beacon Hill. Our hosts Christina and Tammy were classy and lovely as the clothing! Not having brick and mortar locations or selling in high end department stores allows the designer to cut inflation costs associated with doing business through a ‘middleman’. Therefore, Hooker can focus on quality and stay true to her vision for classic and sustainable clothing that is personal to each and every customer.

“My aim is that it will be the best piece of clothing that your granddaughter or your great granddaughter found in an attic, and it still looks and feels fantastic. That’s the definition of a classic- it goes on forever”- Katherine Hooker
