Working in a retail environment, this week the big holiday rollout has arrived. Looking through the new holiday merchandise always makes me smile as I begin to get more excited for the holiday season ahead. While I always love the new clothing and accessories, a big red flag always comes to my mind when I am styling people with the merchandise…..when in doubt, more is not always better! Yes, the black cardigan with the jeweled sparkly neckline is very festive and can be a beautiful piece, however match it with a shiny skirt, glittery heels, and a bejeweled clutch, and you have gone from looking festive, to like a christmas tree yourself. So as the new holiday merchandise and music begins to invade stores soon, keep in mind, a little can go a long way! Pick one major piece that will stand out and keep the rest of the outfit simple so that you (and not your gaudy outfit) will shine!
