Two years ago, Vogue and New York City hosted the first ever Fashion Night Out, or FNO. The plan of the night was two-fold, first help to revitalize a failing economy, and second to create an all-inclusive fashion event open to all. After the huge success in NYC, last year many other cities decided to follow the fashion mothership. LA was one of those cities and they showed revenues from the night to be 30% higher than black Friday, the largest shopping day of the year. Needless to say, it was also a huge hit. Following NYC, LA, and other cities around the world, Boston will be holding its first ever FNO this coming September. So how can you get involved?
First, mark your calendar for the night of September 8th. There will be a ton of things going on around the city starting around 6pm. To name a few of the largest, Newbury Street will be closed to traffic for the first time ever! Most stores will have drinks and music and there will even be stages set up in certain areas to provide entertainment. Copley Place will be having a huge fashion show starting at 6:30, featuring six of its stores; however 40 of the 60 retailers within Copley will be having their own events. The Liberty Hotel will be hosting the post party with a fashion show featuring Gretta Luxe at 10:00pm to wind down the night.
So you know you are going to go, so how do you decide which events you want to attend? There is a facebook page devoted to the event http://www.facebook.com/FashionBoston with lots of people discussing events, however I found the best actual list of events to be at the official Vogue FNO page: http://fashionsnightout.com/fno/outside-nyc . Although a lot of the events are primarily in the back bay, you can also search your local area from this page.
So you have a plan, a fabulous outfit in your closet, now you just need call up your friends and start planning your stylish adventure!
