Shoes are one of my favorite things to talk about (along with food, European travel and my son), so I am delighted to write a blog that features some hot summer shoe styles, that also happen to be on sale! I believe that a reasonable shoe wardrobe should have a good balance of practical and high-fashion footwear, and a variety of price points, but I also believe that designer shoes are worth the investment if:
- they are marked down
- they are not killing your feet as you wear them
- they complete a variety of outfits like a proverbial cherry on top a sundae
When I am looking for inspiration or just an emotional pick-me-up, I tend to visit upscale department store websites and browse their sale shoe sections. Look at the beauties I found recently at NeimanMarcus.com:

This Jimmy Choo cutie ($368 from $550) is likely comfortable enough to wear for long stretches of time (due to the platform and chunky heel), and works great for day or night. I love the 70′s inspired studs and platform style – very in-line with the summer trends we’ve been seeing. I would pair it with a printed maxi dress or a flirty a-line skirt and fitted jacket.

This MiuMiu (on sale for $502 from $750) style is the type of shoe I really drool over: the nude color and heel will elongate any leg, and the lines of this shoe are just so feminine and delicate… Still, with the built-in platform and the interwoven straps that go up to almost the ankle, I predict this style is not severely uncomfortable for those used to a higher heel. I would pair this with a pencil skirt for the ultimate oomph, or balance it out with breezy wide-leg linen pants.

These Manolo Blahnik strappy heels ($331 from $495) are a beautiful pop of color to add to any neutral ensemble. This shoe is not for long walks or standing cocktail parties – save these babies for a nice sit-down wedding or chauffeured dinner outing. I would pair these with a little black (or navy) dress or black tuxedo pants and fitted white shirt combo.
