The best boots are by BCBG. Hands down.

I am a boot fanatic. My walk-in closet is lined with two full rows of boots. I have booties, motorcycle boots, knee-high equestrian style boots, over-the-knee boots (X3) and every other style inbetween. As a result, I consider myself a bit of an expert.

Every Fall/Winter season, Max Azria designs a boot for his BCBG MaxAzria line. And every Fall/Winter season it is perfect. The price point is reasonable, the style is on-trend for the year but never over-the-top and the quality is top-notch. I have purchased his boots 3 out of the past 5 Fall/Winter seasons.

The first time I bought the ideal equestrian-inspired black knee-high boot. It was sleek and slim, done in a matte black leather with a tiny wedge heel designed to give you a little lift without loosing out on any comfort. And the finishing touch? A strap around the back of the upper calf, complete with gold buckle. I died. And then I bought them and wore them until they needed to be re-soled. And then wore them until they needed to be re-soled again…and again and again.

The next year they released the same boot, but this time they quilted the leather calf and they included a chocolate brown color in the collection. They were my Christmas present from my
then boyfriend, now husband. Read: I marched him to the store, handed him the box and told him that they were going to be my Christmas present from him.

This year I replaced the original black boots with an over-the-knee pair, also from BCBG. They have the same basic foot shape – one of the reasons why I liked them so much – and cover my entire knee, ending roughly 3 inches above my knee-cap. You can fold down the top flap for a different look, but I like ‘em up as high as they can go. They make me feel like I could conquer the world and kick some ass while doing it.
