A Friendly Reminder

I was reminded of a very important fashion rule today and I wanted to share it with you all in the hopes that I can remind some of you who may have forgotten as well and teach those of you who haven’t learned it yet.

Since I work at Second Time Around, the majority of my premium denim collection is used denim. I simply buy what looks and feels good.

However, my most recent denim purchase was a brand new pair from a local boutique near my apartment and I was reminded that brand new denim should be purchased to fit like a second
skin.

I debated in the fitting room between two sizes – one pair that restricted my ability to sit down and one pair that felt great, but showed signs of extra room in the crotch area. I was stumped and I am certain that the sales associate was growing irritated that I was lingering in one of only two fitting rooms while I tried on one pair and then the other and then got back into the original pair and then back into the second pair and on and on and on…

Well, I finally decided on the smaller size and I am so glad that I did. When I got home, I spent a little more time in the jeans and knew that I had made the right decision. They started to give and stretch and – although they are still far from lounging jeans – I have a feeling that they are going to be my favorite go-to skinny jeans of this fall/winter season.

So, take it from me, buy your jeans as tight as you can stand and you will never be disappointed by a nagging slouch, a droopy crotch or a gapping waistline. I promise.

Happy Shopping! Fall is such a great time of year to treat yourself to some new denim…
