Alice
Senior Stylist, Co-Founder and Managing Partner

How did you get into styling?
As a visual merchandiser at Anthropologie, Bloomingdales, Louis Boston and Club Monaco, I developed a passion for creating different points of view through styling apparel and accessories. Through the stores, I also developed a number of private clients. Eventually, it got to be too much, and it became clear that I needed - and wanted - the freedom to work for myself. That is when Maria and I sat down and decided to start Stilista.

Describe your styling philosophy.
The most successful stylists are able to discover each person’s unique point of view and realize it through the clothing and accessories that they put them in. A great stylist must draw out each person’s perspective in their look.

Describe your style. How does it inform your work as a stylist?
I truly am a chameleon. I am very influenced by the world around me - stories, designers, etc. Whatever I am inspired by at a particular moment influences my style. But, in general, my look
tends to be a bit dark and melancholy overall, (the above photo would be an exception)  but always feminine. And I love accessories!

I am originally from Europe and I think that informs my style as well. For example, Europeans take getting dressed more seriously and they "dress up" more. In the states, there is a serious
emphasis on dressing down and I would like to stop that trend!

Who is your favorite designer or what is your favorite label?
This is a tough question, because my favorite designer is always changing... But, brands and designers that I keep returning to are:
Vena Cava
Helmut Lang
Proenza Schouler
Roland Mouret
All Saints
Martin Grant
Rick OWens
Vintage!

What is your favorite season of clothing?
Fall - no question. It is the season that is a little "dark" and there are amazing textures and fabrics, so there is a lot of clothing for me.

What is your favorite type of clothing?
Boots made of really nice leather. Bags. All accessories. And funky, tailored outerwear jackets.

Describe your favorite outfit.
A cool black dress belted with a vintage belt. And an awesome pair of waxed leather boots that you can’t tell whether they are brown or grey.

Describe your dream outfit.
A beautiful Italian tailored coat.
An amazing dress by Rodarte.
A Lanvin bag.
A pair of Golden Goose boots or a Dries van Noten riding boot.
A vintage diamond dinner ring from E.B. Horn.
And almost any accessory by Marni.
