The Cure for Overpacking

While packing for my yearly trip to Nantucket (don’t hate me, I’m just a nanny) I successfully packed everything I needed into my pink duffle. Yes, EVERYTHING. Including all my running clothes, an umbrella, AND my Vera Bradley toiletry bag. I honestly didn’t think it could be done…

However, since I accomplished the seemingly impossible, I analyzed my success and discovered that the cure for over-packing is really quite simple.

I found that bringing most of my favorite tops and bottoms was not working. You know how it goes…this top only goes with those bottoms which means I need those shoes, and so on. But, do not fret. You can and will break this cycle! Here is my solution:

Break out the classics! Instead of the of-the-moment trends, stick to the summer essentials:
-tan linen pants or capris
-black tube top
-solid white top (I chose a Banana Republic tank top with braided neck line and straps…)
-bright solid shorts
-boho beach cover-up
and last, but certainly not least…
-the perfect little white dress (Yes, white, not black! It’s summer, Ladies!)

All of these items will mix and match with your favorite new trends, whether it be a flower-print peasant top or a great pair jeans in the latest cut. And, they can be dressed up or down for any
occasion.

So, say good-bye to overpacking for good and embrace the cure!
