A Stilista Stylist goes to Spain: Part II

As promised, I am back this week to blog about some of the top fashion trends that I saw while in Madrid, Spain.

1. Unstructured, loose-fitting pants
The Spanish ladies – and even some of the Spanish men – loved to wear harem, genie and doti pants. These drop-crotch and flowy-legged pants were literally everywhere and on everyone.
In addition to being a distinct fashion statement, I can imagine that they were also extremely functional in the 95+ Spanish heat by providing their owner with sun protection without the
cling or discomfort of leggings, denim or other pants.

2. Stripes
Stripes were one of two prominent patterns in Spain. They adorned tops and dresses in almost every store that I ventured into. My sister was head over heels for this trend and snatched
up all the red and blue nautical-inspired stripes to complement her new-wave preppy wardrobe.

3. Florals
Florals were the second favorite pattern in Spain. Almost every tiny dress, slinky top and sexy romper could be purchased in a floral version. I even saw floral harem pants! (Above is the floral romper that I purchased at Bershka).

4. Canvas fashion sneakers
Converse All-Stars and other similar canvas fashion sneakers were definitely the footwear of choice. Converse’s new skinnier, sleeker version of the All-Star were all the rage. I am excited for these to be state-side in the abundance of styles that I saw in Spain.

Typing this is taking me back…I miss Spain dearly and hope to return soon! A special shout-out to my sister and mother for making our fabulous trip possible!
