Cut the cut-out dresses from your wardrobe!

One of the rising trends of the summer is the cut-out dress. This futuristic trend has been seen on the runways of Stella McCartney and Givenchy and has been adopted by retailers like Bebe and Arden B. While I do admit that they are both eye-catching and works of fabric art, I am having a hard time seeing the appeal of these dresses in the consumer market.

The lines and shapes that the cut-outs create can be distracting and not always flattering to the everyday fashionista. Straps and holes in weird places can reveal problem areas and their length…well there’s really none to speak of.

If you are intrigued by this trend and want to give it a try, I suggest a toned down version, with cut-outs on your back or arms. This way, problem areas will be avoided and the focus will
still remain on your beautiful face!
