Tommy Ton - A ton of style

Of course, our Stilista fashion blog is my favorite blog. ;) All of our stylists work hard to come up with interesting topics to keep our readers and clients well-educated and up-to-date on fashion news, fashion trends and the latest in hair and make-up products.

But, perhaps my favorite fashion blog OTHER than the Stilista blog, is the "Jak and Jil Blog."

Created by Tommy Ton, a fashion photographer out of NYC with a voracious appetite for fashion  - and accessories in particular - this blog is the most pleasing assortment of eye candy that
a young, fashion-obsessed stylist could dream of...

Tommy Ton stalks models, fashion editors and "it-girls" on the streets of New York, Paris and Milan (amongst other fashion capitals...) and fixates on their stand-out accessories, runway pieces and unique sense of style. If there is a jaw-droppingly gorgeous pair of sculptural heels within a 5 mile radius, Tommy spots them and snaps them mid-stride, awash in artistic shadow or in the coy, pigeon-toed stance of their fashionable owner. In fact, he is so good, that Style.com has hired him to contribute regular photoblogs of important fashion events for their on-line fashion mecca.

Perhaps my favorite element of his blogs is the fact that despite that much of the fashion he photographs is being worn by the social elite, it is always the fashion that is the focus. For example, in his most recent blog installment for Style.com, Ton covers the red carpet action at the CFDA awards. Almost every photo is of a recognizable celebrity, stylist, model or designer. Yet, instead of seeing SJP, you see the beautiful billow and flow of her floor-length floral gown. Instead of seeing model Doutzen Kroes, you are struck by the fact that Ton has caught her in profile, turning her head toward the same shoulder that her assymetrical dress hangs from. Instead of seeing Joy Bryant, we see that the curve of the wide gun-metal cuff on her arm mirrors the curve of her hip in her skin-tight micro-mini metallic green dress. And on and on and on...
