The latest nail trend: matte nails
01.17.10

Nail polish - once an overlooked accessory - now has a very prominent place in fashion. Not only is it now an important accessory, but it is subject to its own set of trends. The newest in
nail trends is matte nails or what nail polish-maker Zoya referred to as nail polish "with all of the color and none of the shine."
Matte nail polish can be achieved in one of three ways:
1. Purchase a matte nail polish.
Most nail polish manufacturers have debuted a matte nail polish line. Choose from OPI, Essie, Zoya, ManGlaze or Knock Out Cosmetics for the best quality.
2. Purchase a matte top coat.
Transform your favorite nail color into a matte polish by applying a matte top-coat.
3. Use your base coat as a top coat.
In Style Magazine suggested this trick in one of their recent issues. This is obviously the easiest way to try out the trend without committing to a new bottle of nail polish or top
coat that you may not like.
I am not sure how I feel about the trend yet because I do love the shine of a new manicure. Perhaps I will try the matte version of a French manicure as seen on the Kardashian sisters...
Paint fingers with matte nail polish and sweep top coat on only the tips. Sounds hot to me!
Comment below with your interpretation of the trend or with your pick for the color that looks best in a matte finish!
