Sapphire in the Snow

One thing that you should know about me is that when I find something great, I like to spread the word about it. Another thing that you should know about me is that if I have found something great it is usually because I was looking for it and did exhaustive research to find it. When I want to add a garment, accessory or beauty product to my arsenal, I usually have something very specific in mind and I don't leave any stone unturned in my search for it. Such was the case in my recent search for a new winter nail polish.
For the past two winters, I have been wearing Lincoln Park After Dark, a great nail color by OPI. It is just this side of true black with subtle purple tones to it. It makes me feel bad-ass and sophisticated at the same time.
Now, don't get me wrong, I still love Lincoln Park After Dark and will certainly still be wearing it on a regular basis. But, I wanted to add a new color to my nail polish collection this year and I had something very particular in mind. I wanted a deep, dark navy blue or purple. The problem that I encountered is that every nail polish that I picked up had either metallic sparkle in it or tones of chocolate. I HATE metallic sparkle - I am not a very girly-girl in that sense - and I am much more of a grey-black person than a navy-brown person. And so, my search continued.
Until yesterday.
While getting my lip waxed at Lauren's Nails on Newbury Street, I encountered OPI's new collection; "Holiday Wishes." I immediately noticed the color "Sapphire in the Snow" - "a deep jewel-toned violet-blue." I checked for metallic sparkle, and upon discovering none, I bought it on the spot.
Today I put it to the true test and painted both my toes and fingers. What a fabulous color! It is a deep, dark, true matte purple and I love it. It will definitely be on my fingers and toes all winter long...

"Can you dig it" by Opi is a good purple also. Have it on my toes and LOVE it!
