I have a large collection of boots because they are my favorite fashion item for the Fall and Winter season. I have short, heeled booties that I wear out on the weekend when I want to feel sexy, but still be warm. I have 2 pairs of equestrian-inspired boots – one black pair and one brown pair – because they go with everything and they are the most classic boot silhouette, one that will never go out of style. I have a pair of black patent leather boots which I wear when I am dressed in all black. The shine adds another dimension to an otherwise one-dimensional look. Finally, I have a pair of nude-colored knee-high boots with a steel-plated heel and wrap-around ankle strap. These were clearly a fashion splurge. I have only had success working them into two outfits so far, but I love owning them and seeing them in my closet.
This season I have made two new boot purchases. I bought a pair of over-the-knee boots by Modern Vintage in a distressed grey leather. I will be wearing them with jeans, leggings, tights or thigh-high socks layered underneath during the day and pair them with bare legs and a mini-dress or skirt at night. My second boot purchase is a pair of motorcycle boots by Fiorentini-Baker. They are black leather and end at the mid-calf. They have a strap around the ankle and have just the right amount of slouch. I will be wearing them with skinny jeans or black slim-fit pants tucked into them and will pair them with something girly in order to strike the right balance of masculine and feminine.
Both of these boot silhouettes are important for Fall. They are all over the fashion magazines and I have seen them on the feet of many stylish women in the streets of NYC where I have been for both work and play over the last few weeks. But, most importantly, they can single-handedly update last year’s winter wardrobe.
If you want to check out these new boot silhouettes, head to www.nationaljeancompany.com. They have a great selection of both kinds. Happy shopping!
