Event #7: 9/29 8-10pm, Dark Wave Disco Sam Mendoza Show, Liberty Hotel

Mendoza and the Liberty really know how to team up to put on a show!  The event was styled to the nines- complete with a two-level venue, customized name tags, and the best guest list of all of fashion week (my friend was seated next to Bill Belichick)!  The venue and people were so fabulous that no one was upset that it took almost an hour for the show to start- everyone chatted and checked each other out.  I felt comfortably casual with my hair up, in a simple white tee and my knee length black 60's a-line skirt, slouchy boots and accessorized with huge beaded bracelets (that were actually necklaces!).

Once the show did start, it was a sight to see- the flowy grecian-inspired dresses and draped silk skirts looked elegant in subdued deep purples and blues with hits of chartreuse.  The models wore matching black bobbed wigs and flowed past us in their diaphanous creations.  Many of the guests were wearing Sam's designs and they were much more lively and colorful.  I did love the cape and capelets that he sent down the runway, I would love to add one of those to my fall wardrobe and hope they will be sold at Stil!

After the show, the crowd headed downstairs to Alibi for rowdy good fun!  I have to say, Sam has the ability to draw a crowd and create fashion drama in Boston like no other.  I hope it inspires others and continues to bring relevancy to the Boston Fashion scene- bravo and onwards!
