Event #4: 9/27 The Ultimate Beauty Challenge, The Liberty Hotel

Thank goodness for the Liberty Hotel.  Without it we wouldn't have Fashionably Late, prison-themed bars, or The Ultimate Beauty Challenge 2009!  The challenge was hosted by The Yellow Umbrella, a cervical cancer awareness organization whose motto is "Save the Hooch!"  Five teams had 90 minutes to compete for $4000 based on their ability to create a complete hair and makeup look that incorporated that night's secret challenge ingredient: Candy!  The time went by much faster than I expected.  Guests were entertained with free false lash applications and eye makeovers, a full service bar and dance tunes by local DJ Costa.  The winner was announced after careful consideration by the judges (including Miss Massachusetts and Erica Corsano).  All the contestants looked fabulous and there was more positive energy in the room than at most Boston Fashion Week events...which go me thinking...maybe Boston fashion is being overtaken by the hair and makeup scene?  They certainly have as much or more more innovation, talent and enthusiasm!
