Event #2 9/24 Living In Style, 6-8pm 346 Congress Streetfp3 party.jpg

Rachel Baker was hosting an Eco-Friendly event at the FP3 Fort Point Concept Home last night and I was lucky enough to get an invite!  I was especially interested in attending as I had lived in Fort Point about 3 years ago when it was a relatively unknown and quiet (well sometimes) artist loft community.  I was forced to leave when all the lofts and old factory buildings were bought out by, guess who, FP3, refurbished and now sold for 8 times what I was paying rent for!  But, to be politically correct, I'm not totally bitter because all the new attention has rejuvenated the Fort Point district and given us great hot spots like Drink, the ICA and, provided a great canvas for green-architecture.

The event was fabulous, cocktails and hors d'eouvres were plenty and the guests were sparkling with style!  I wore dark washed skinny jeans, a new tweedy blazer belted at the waist, a mustard yellow silk vintage blouse and my favorite fringe-y suede heels.  The Penthouse concept home was open to explore and check out the eco-friendly design and ogle the models that were stationed in each room and dressed by a local designer or boutique.  My favorite rooms had to be the children's room upstairs featuring robot wallpaper and across the hall, the main bedroom painted in a subtle shade of peachy-lavender and showcasing a gorgeous chandelier.  The models fit perfectly with the decor, my favorite outfit being a three piece tweedy suit (Nom de Guerre is FABULOUS) and plaid scarf one of the men wore- the best part of his outfit, his own cowboy boots that he brought.

Most of the guests meandered down to Drink after the event ended for a nightcap and then crossed the Congress Street bridge on the way back into the city.  It was a perfect evening that highlighted how fashion and architecture are intertwined and showcased a very modern and hip Boston!

PS- For more inspiration on fashion and architecture as connected art, you must check out the past Skin and Bones exhibit at the MOCA in LA.

PPS- I ran into Kibwe Daisy, a local grad from BAC and all around fashion and design force.  Check out his relevant blog which also combines fashion and home design, Design For Men!
