Boston Fashion Week Blog 2009: Cupcakes and Couture

Event #1     9/22 6-8pm Cupcakes And Couture, 378 Highland Ave

So, I thought I'd start my adventures with Boston Fashion Week 2009 off grunge-style by riding my bike in my plaid shirt (paired with cuffed skinny jeans and heels) to the Cupcakes and Couture event in Davis Square. Hosted by KickAss Cupcakes and outfitted by TraTutti (a couture consignment company with a conscience), the event was a cozy affair with a local Boston Fashion Flair.  There were two rolling racks of great designer items (loved the See by Chloe dress!) at delicious prices (some over 60% off retail!) as well as a table full of accessories and goodies.  KickAss passed around samples of their scrumptious cupcakes and had refreshments on hand.  This was certainly the sweetest trunk show I have been to, and one of the most charitable, with 20% of every fashion sale going to AIDS Action, the MSPCA, Dress for Success, The Home for Little Wanderers, Rosie's Place or Big Brother Big Sister of Massachusetts Bay.

- And I learned that KickAss Cupcakes has Cupcake Cocktail Hours on the last Monday of every month where they feature tastings of cocktail inpired cupcakes like Lemon Drop or Peach Daiquiri!  Yum!
