Delicate Matters

Oh ballet flats, such delicate chic little wisps of a shoe. Like a chameleon you look great with any outfit and are especially useful for my morning commute (have you tried catching the 86 bus by running three blocks in slingback sandals?). You make me feel pulled together even when wearing jeans and white tee; and totally exude classic Hepburn (Audrey that is) chic with a solid black turtleneck, black skinny pants and a bohemian nonchalance.

Except, oh hello, what’s that…my dainty feet surely couldn’t be that sweaty? How could something so functional and charming generate so many, to put nicely, un-charming scents? The only way to wear ballet flats is by going sockless- I’ve tried those mini-ped socks, but they are never mini enough and always seem to peek out from the sides in a most imprudent way. I’ve even gone so far as to fold up a tissue to put in the bottom of my shoe (please don’t try that at home folks, you just end up with a shredded tissue mess!)

How relieved was I to come across a gift from orthopedic heaven for purchase at Luna BostonLuna Boston: Foot Petals lavender scented cushioned inserts that absorb moisture and keep your feet cool, dry and as sweet smelling as a drive through the French countryside in a vintage Citro
