What's under there?

Underwear!!

Let there be no confusion – this entry is not about lingerie; it’s about the boring necessities during this season of tight white pants and strapless dresses. Here are some tips for getting through most summer scenarios:

-Invest in a well-fitting strapless bra. One that matches your skin tone is probably the most sound investment, and it will solve wardrobe dilemmas for skimpy tops (think spaghetti strap), one-shoulder numbers, and bridesmaid dresses. The correct size (properly fitting) strapless bra should offer the same amount of support as your regular one. If you have never been properly fitted, get thee to Intimacy, pronto!

-If you are on the smaller side and can go bra-less, consider petal tops to prevent nipple pop-ups in air-conditioned interiors.

-We all know to avoid the dreaded VPL (visible panty line) and do so by wearing thongs under tight-fitting pants and skirts. When you wear white pants, remember that the thong has to be a shade of nude. It’s best to choose ones with minimal texture – this one is my favorite.

-Grab a pair of boy shorts for the days when you wear flowy skirts and dresses. These summer favorites leave you vulnerable to the “Marilyn moment” (or the “Lindsay moment” when getting out of a car). Either one is a horrible time to be wearing a stringy nothing – or worse yet, going commando. I love these boy shorts for the cuteness and comfort – and the range of colors.

-Fashion tape is your best friend when you want to show some skin but keep it PG-13. You can stick your garment onto skin directly, or to the bra, to avoid unintentional peek-a-boos.

These are just the basics. True, they may be boring at times, but they’ll allow you to wear your favorite summer pieces without worrying about what lies beneath. Now, for the fun stuff – watch this space…
