I don’t wear a lot of make-up and I don’t pretend to know a lot about it either. However, I do know that I have found what works for me. Some of my makeup tricks are very specific to my face-shape and coloring while others are more universal. The universal trick that is my favorite is that of foregoing foundation in favor of a tinted moisturizer.
Foundation is often chalky and hard to match to your skin and successfully blend in. Also, if you have any wrinkles or laugh lines, the foundation can sink into these creases in the skin and actually make them more prominent. Tinted moisturizer can serve as a replacement for foundation because the added color evens your skin tone. But, because it has the qualities of a moisturizer, it is absorbed by the skin and thus does not have any of the negative effects of a foundation. As an added bonus, most of the tinted moisurizers on the market have sun protection built right in.
On the days when I wear a full face of make-up I follow the tinted moisturizer with a concealer in order to cover blemishes or problem spots like my dark under-eye area. But, on my days off, the tinted moisturizer is enough to give me a little bit of coverage and a healthy glow while I take a break from the eyeshadow, bronzer and mascara.
If you are interested in giving tinted moisturizer a try, check out www.benefitcosmetics.com. The “you rebel” and “you rebel lite” tinted moisturizers with an spf of 15 are two of their best sellers. Try the original if you have a medium or dark complexion and the “lite” version if you have paler skin. While you are there, be sure not to pass up this great offer!
