One question that I’ve been asked a lot recently is how to wear the “bondage heels” that are so popular this season. As someone who is madly in love with these shoes, I have been only too happy to help.
The most important thing to remember is that these shoes make a STATEMENT. Therefore, you really need to keep the rest of the outfit simple. I recently saw a woman who had on the most fabulous pair of black studded bondage heels, but she had on a short, skintight dress with a plunging neckline, so instead of looking chic, it looked cheap. It was too much – such a provactive shoe really needs to be paired with something slightly conservative, otherwise, it’s just too much sex for one outfit.
I think these shoes really shine when they’re worn with a really feminine, flirty dress. The contrast of the tough shoe against the soft, girly dress cuts the sweetness of the outfit and gives it a bit of an edge. Actress Zoe Saldana models this look here to absolute perfection:
One last thing – GET A PEDICURE! These shoes are going to put all the focus on your feet, and if your feet are unkempt, you might as well have been wearing slippers. The look will be ruined.
I think if you buy nothing else this season, buy a pair of these heels in a neutral color. They’ll change the mood of everything else in your closet and bring new life to your tired old dresses. So go ahead and get bonded.
