In keeping with the theme that I started last Sunday, I have prepared a “Top Ten List” of Summer Must-Haves. In addition, I have provided quick and easy tips on how to wear each trend and what to look for when shopping for them.
1. Summer Scarf
Scarves are no longer just for the cold winter weather! Pick a gauzy, lightweight version in a muted hue to add texture, color and an added layer to your outfit.
2. T-Strap Sandal
This simple sandal is your best bet for easy summer fashion. Select a textured or embossed leather, a bright color or a metallic and put your pedicure on display.
3. Waist Belts
Whether thick or thin, these accessories are sure to add fashion and flair to any outfit. Choose a neutral, color or metallic and buckle one on in order to enhance your waist line and lengthen your legs.
4. Maxi Dress
This floor-length frock is the ultimate in easy summer dressing. Both comfortable and chic, these dresses transition from day to night and are best in a bright color or an eye-catching print.
5. Rompers
Of the trends which stomped down the spring 2009 runways, this is the best. A one-piece wonder, they are functional and fashionable all at once.
6. Long Necklaces
Pick gold links, assorted charms or tribal beads and layer them on over dresses, tunics or even a basic white t-shirt.
7. Bondage Heels
When choosing a new high-heel this summer, skip the basic pumps and sandals and don a pair of aggressive stilettos with straps, studs and zippers galore.
8. Distressed Boyfriend Jeans
Slouchy through the hips and thighs, but narrow in the leg, these jeans are best worn loosely cuffed at the ankle with a flat t-strap sandal or ballet flat. Paired with a flirty top, these jeans offer the perfect chance to pair the masculine with the feminine.
9. Long Cardigans
The perfect layering accessory and cover-up for a chilly night, long cardigans should be thrown on over dresses, a tee and shorts or even a flirty top, jeans and heels. Hold them closed with a waist belt and up the fashion-ante another notch.
10. A Convertible Bag
Big bags are still in. However, the newest versions offer its owner the option to carry it over the shoulder or cross-body. These bags should be slouchy and un-structured so that they conform to your figure no matter where they are carried.
When incorporating these summer “must-haves” into your wardrobe, be sure to keep the summer fashion “do’s” in mind and select feminine florals, neon colors and tribal patterns. With these trends in mind and the above list in hand, your shopping trips should be fruitful and your summer season a fashionable one!
