My Hair Tips: Volume II

Hey Ladies! Here I am! – Back again with my hair tips and just in time for a rainy day that requires us curly-haired ladies to go au-naturale….or else…

Although wearing my hair straight is certainly appealing since we always want what we don’t have, I wear my hair curly more often than not. When I wear my hair curly, I use a cocktail of hair products to get the texture and the curl just right.

Step 1: Shampoo and Condition with Herbal Essences “Totally Twisted Curls and Waves Shampoo and Conditioner.”

I am not sure how much of an effect these have on the final product, but they aren’t very expensive and at the very least they are hydrating which is extremely important for curly hair.

Step 2: Apply a quarter-sized dollop of Garnier Fructis’ “Leave-In Conditioning Cream” to wet hair. (Please adjust the amount based upon the length of your hair).

This product can be found at most CVS and Walgreen’s and retails for under $5. After applying the conditioner, pull your hair up and out of the way so that you can focus on getting dressed and applying your makeup.

Step 3: Apply a dime-sized dollop of KMS’ “hairplay” molding paste. (Again, please adjust the amount based upon the length of your hair).

This is truly the secret ingredient. The strength of the product is unparalleled and is the only hair product that I have ever tried that will last for an entire day. Other gel products are completely absorbed by my hair and the style falls out. (It literally looks and feels like the paste you used in grade school during arts and crafts time).

Step 4: Spray a liberal amount of Garnier Fructis’ “strong” “Curl Shaping Spray Gel.”

Make sure to cover every inch of you hair. This is best achieved by flipping your head upside down so that you can get both the top and the underside of your hair. Also, be sure to get the inner layers by lifting portions of your hair in order to reach in between the layers with the spray. Thankfully, this product – like the leave-in conditioner – can also be found at CVS or Walgreens’ and retails for under $5.

Step 5: Allow hair to air-dry. Scrunch upwards from the ends of hair as it dries.

I do not use a diffuser. This surprises most people, but in my experience, the diffuser turns my ringlets into fuzz. The only issue with this is that my hair takes a long time to dry. But, to be honest, a few hours of damp hair is worth it for the final result.

Step 6: Enjoy the voluptuous curls that God gave you!

Rock the afro, or pull it back half-way to keep the hair out of your face while still allowing the curls to flow.

If you haven’t found a hair cocktail that works for you, I hope that mine can be of help. But, if you have one that you have found success with, please share it with the rest of the world!!

Happy Good Hair Day to all!
